Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. Over the past year you (nurses) continue to remain at the forefront of healthcare. As the largest workforce in healthcare, you continue to show your resilience and strength. You constantly sacrifice your health, your family, and your wellbeing for the sake of those you serve.
We, the Alabama State Nurses Association are here for you! We understand that it is NOT about the money. We understand it is about quality care, safe staffing, adequate breaks, just to name a few. ASNA is your nursing voice speaking out for safe staffing, higher pay, and improved working conditions. We understand the mental distress placed on you during these unprecedented times and we continue to provide a platform of solace.
We Have a Voice
Nineteen years and counting, nurses have been named the most trusted profession. We hold this title with high regard, but we also have a voice. We have a voice to advocate for Alabama registered nurses to be paid more as we understand that we are paid 8% lower than our surrounding states.
We have a voice as we speak out advocating for nurses to be included in receiving federal funds in an effort to support nurses. We have a voice advocating for adequate personal protective equipment and safe working conditions. We have a voice to advocate for better staffing and adequate supplies. The pandemic has highlighted the strength, unity, and resilience of nurses, but it has also identified the need for a greater voice.
Nurses continue to have the heart for nursing, vowing to place our patients at the center of our care, we must use our voice. ASNA is that voice. Let us join together to speak up and out about what nurses need and deserve.
When we are asked why we chose the nursing profession, it is consistently stated because of our love and compassion for mankind. Nurses deserve to be appreciated and respected. The nursing profession is the foundation for healthcare.
The Alabama State Nurses Association will continue to advocate for better, safe staffing, and adequate breaks. Remember we are stronger together. Encourage your friends and colleagues to join the VOICE of nursing: The Alabama State Nurses Association.
Happy Holidays from my family to yours! I am thankful for each of you! Nurses are the gift that continues to give!
