Proving that nursing is a profession of lifelong learning, Dr. Brenda Woodmansee started her nursing education at a community college in Mississippi in 1979 and worked through all the levels until receiving a DNP in nursing from Samford University in 2019. Brenda has worked for over 35 years at the bedside before becoming a faculty member at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing where she teaches in the undergraduate nursing program.
Being a member of ASNA, the professional organization for all nurses, is a way of providing service to the profession. In return, membership offers the opportunity to meet nurses in different roles from all over the state and to learn how other professionals are tackling problems.
Brenda has been a member of ASNA since 2013. She has served as District 4 Treasurer for two terms, President-Elect for one term working with past president Dr. Jacqueline Smith, and now is the newly inducted President of ASNA District 4.
Membership in ASNA helps nurses keep up with, and even participate in, professional events on a local, state, and national level.
